Fabric are a young company based here in the UK. They make saddles mainly, but not like anyone else. As a result theirs is a range that isaestheticallypleasing, light and stiff in good measure and in the right balance; and that fit. They don't have saddles for mountain bikers orroadiesspecifically, rather their range of saddles is aimed simply at those who ride a bike.
Like most saddle brands of note, Fabric have a structured range with a fitting system designed to assist the rider in selecting the most appropriate saddle. Fabric’s fit system isbased on a person’sSomatotypewhich refers to the underlying bone structure of an individual. This is an important point as this measure is not affected by diet, fitness or training so the saddle that suits, will always suit. Viewed more simply, Fabric saddles are fitted by body size and rider position.
For the most part, people fall into 3Somatotypes:Ectomorph(Light bone structure),Mesomorph(Average, larger structure) and Endomorph (Broad) and Fabric produce saddles to suit each type which vary in width,134mm,142mmand155mmand each one of their saddles is designed for performanceandcomfort rather than sacrificing one for the other.
The Line WIDE is aimed at theMesomorph- that is, most of us. Like all of Fabric’s offerings, it is constructed from just 3 parts; a bonded cover, rail and base which removes any excess materials and staples to give a light weight, comfortable and tidy product. Unlike the Scoop range, the Line features a central relief channel designed to reduce the pressure on thepudendalartery for longer rides. The LINE WIDE offers the support of a conventional saddle with the added comfort of a cutaway. The Line saddle amply supports sit bones with lightweight foam padding and relieves pressure with the central relief channel.
It is available in this ELITE version with aChromolyrail and a RACE version which uses Titanium for the rail to save a little weight and improve longevity.Given the nature of riders of thissomatotype, Fabric have elected to produce the Line and Line Wide in a single base profile - the Shallow, since this is the most commonly appreciated .
Flat: For flexible riders who prefer a race position (high differential)
Shallow: An all-round position and for averagely proportioned people
Radius: A more pronounced curve for those with a relatively low differential (sportive or endurance position) or those with a relatively short leg.
TheFabric Line Wide Elite saddlefeatured here has a nylon base, hollowCro-Mo rail and lightweightPUfoam covered with a waterproofmicrofibrefor durability and easy cleaning. The Fabric Line Wide 142mm saddle will suit most riders looking for the enhanced comfort of a relief channel with an intermediate position and who vary their position by moving around the bars during their rides.
